903 brewers

this is our story

903 Brewers was founded on a simple idea; make great beer for a great community. With that idea in mind Jeremy and Natalie Roberts began building the foundation for 903 Brewers back in 2011.

Jeremy Roberts is not only the founder but he is also the head brewer. He spent years perfecting his recipes and letting the community decide what beers they wanted from their local brewery. He fearlessly concocted hundreds of different beers to see what new flavors he might come up with. Not all were a hit, but that is how you find a gem. Do you have an idea for a beer you’d like to try? Let him know, he just might try it out.

903 Brewers officially opened its doors in June of 2013 and introduced to the world The Chosen One Coconut Ale and Roo’s Red Ale. Since that time 903 Brewers has added many more year round beers, seasonals, and special releases. They frequently release new beers so check back often to see what new offerings the gang has come up with.

903 Beers have won many awards but their most prized award came in September of 2015. Their Sasquatch Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout took home a silver medal from the Great American Beer Festival in the aged beer category.

903 Brewers is also a great place to visit. We host trivia nights, movie nights, and Saturday tours. Check the events calendar to see what is happening next.

      Special Releases Ahead!

      12/10/2015

Crackin' Up Pecan PorterDecember is a busy month but it brings some pretty great things. You guys may be busy getting ready for Christmas, but we are busy brewing up some great special releases! The week of Thanksgiving we released our Crackin’ Up Pecan Porter in cans. This beer is a brewery favorite and has won multiple awards and medals (it’s pretty cool having a job where you can get medals). It is a robust porter with the addition of pecans. It is a little on the sweet side and full of flavor. The ABV is 8.5%. This beer will be available through the winter months.

This month are doing a very small special release of our Coffee Pecan Porter in 22 oz bottles. We take our Coffee Pecan PorterCrackin’ Up and add in coffee expertly selected by our friends at Mo’ Joe A Go-Go for its bold cocoa flavor, rich, nutty sweetness, and accents of bittersweet chocolate. The end result is sweet, smooth porter. We have previously done very limited keg releases of this beer and it was a real hit. Look for this to hit store shelves in the next week or so. It will be a very limited release so get it while you can!

In January we will be making all your wishes come true. We will be releasing our Balcones Barrel Aged Sasquatch in 22 oz bottles. The keg release was such a hit we Balcones Barrel Aged Sasquatchdecided to make it available for you to take home. We are able to source Baby Blue Bourbon Barrels from our friends at Balcones. We then age our Sasquatch in these barrels for weeks and wait for the flavor to develop. The barrels give Sasquatch a hint of vanilla and deepens the flavor. Sasquatch comes out smooth, sweet, and rich. Stay tuned for the January release dates.

We also have some fun stuff happening at the brewery. Join us Saturday at noon for a delicious lunch of beer and tacos. We will be pairing three of our beers with tacos from three of Sherman’s best Taquerias. You’ll get three tacos, three 8 oz pours of beer, and a pint glass to take home for $15. These tasty tacos won’t last long so don’t be late!

Thursday, the 17th we are having a special Trivia Night. It will also be an Ugly Sweater Christmas Party. Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater to Trivia for a 903 Ugly Sweater Tchance to win some pretty cool 903 prizes. Doors open at 5pm and trivia begins at 6:30. Texas Real Burger will be here serving their great burgers.

If you are still looking for the perfect gift for the beer lover in your life visit www.shop903.com. You can get them some pretty cool stuff that they are sure to love from T Shirts, Sweat Shirts, and more. There is still time to have things shipped before Christmas, or, order it online and pick it up at the brewery!

blogContentThis has been an interesting week!  After our first successful canning run, our cans are all over North Texas.  We hope that you were able to get a six pack (or 4 pack) before the sleet came in.  We are already running out of our cans and are ready for another run next week.  We also found out we won a silver medal this week at the New York International Beer Competition.  We are also brewing a new beer!  We will be celebrating tonight during Trivia Night and on Saturday during our Brewery Tour from 12-5. We canned 30,000 beers and didn’t drink them all before they could be delivered.  The first beer to come off the line was the Coconut Ale.  Of course we had to try it.  Quality control is a vital step in any type of production.  It was good!  It is awesome to drink a beer with a 360 degree lid.  The experience (Budweiser will love this sentence) is so much better when you can actually see the beer and smell it. blogContent2We also canned the Roo’s Red Ale, Sasquatch Imperial Milk Stout, and 903 Blonde.  Soon, we will be canning The Land of Milk and Hoaney Stout.

The New York International Beer Competition was held February 8, 2015.  We just received the results that we won a silver medal for our Sasquatch Imperial Milk Stout in the American Style Imperial Stout category.  This is our first award for the brewery and we are so happy that it is for Sasquatch.  We love this beer, we know our customers love this beer, and the judges now know that we know we know they know. The judges for this competition are trade only judges.

The new beer will be called Trot Line Saison.  The name comes from fond memories Adam had fishing with his grandfather.  Beer would make fishing much more fun.  The beer will have a higher alcohol content than session saisons and will be a little more tart.  Trot Line Saison will make its debut during the Big Texas Beer Fest. As always, we have Trivia Night every Thursday.  We open at 5:30 and trivia stars at 6:30.  We will have the brewery nice and warm!  On Saturday, we are open for the Brewery Tour from 12-5.  Tours will happen every hour with either Jeremy or Adam.  Come ready to relax and don’t forget to try Sasquatch.  We will be ready to show it off!  Also, one of our regular doggies will be celebrating a birthday.  Bring your pet and celebrate with a treat or two.

      Super Bowl Snacks. With Beer!

      01/26/2015

Super Bowl Snacks. With Beer! So, our boys won’t be playing in the big game this weekend, but that won’t stop us from having some of our favorite game day snacks. We’ve got a few recipes to impress your friends on Superbowl Sunday. Adding a little beer to your favorite foods is a great way to enhance the flavors of both the beer and your food. Natalie has a great Sasquatch Chili recipe that she has made a few times for the Saturday Brewery Tours. Everyone always loves it and she is happy to give out the recipe. We are also sharing our Pecan Porter Black Bean Dip recipe that is great with chips or veggies. A lighter (LOL) and sweet touch to your Sunday can be a Milk and Honey Fruit Dip. It is a classic recipe with a few special touches added. The dip is very tasty with fresh fruit and even better if you put the fruit on skewers. Just don’t get too angry with the game and hurt a friend.

      Sasquatch Chili
      2 pounds ground beef
      2 pounds bulk Italian sausage
      2 can chili beans, drained
2 (28 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
      1 large yellow onion, chopped
      3 stalks celery, chopped
2 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
2 small cans chopped green chilies
      1 cup Sasquatch Stout
      ¼ cup chili powder
      1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
      3 cloves minced garlic
      1 Tablespoon dried oregano
      2 teaspoons ground cumin
      1 teaspoon dried basil
      1 dash cayenne pepper
      1 teaspoon paprika
      1 teaspoon sugar

Directions: Heat a large stock pot over medium high heat. Crumble the ground beef and sausage into the hot pan, and cook until evenly browned. Drain off excess grease and set aside. Add onions, celery, and bell pepper to pot and cook until tender.  Pour in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Pour in Sasquatch Stout. Season with chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, oregano, cumin, hot pepper sauce, basil, salt, pepper, cayenne, paprika, and sugar. Stir to blend, then cover and simmer over low heat for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

      Pecan Porter Black Bean Dip
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
½ cup (4 ounce) cream cheese, room temperature
      2/3 cup Pecan Porter Beer
½ cup cilantro and a little for garnish
      1 jalapeno, seeded
      1 teaspoon onion powder
      1 teaspoon garlic powder
      ½ teaspoon cumin
      ½ teaspoon paprika
      2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
      salt and pepper to taste

Directions: In a food processor add the beans, cream cheese, Pecan Porter, cilantro, jalapenos, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, and lemon juice. Process until smooth. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour into a serving bowl, top with cilantro. Can be served warm or at room temperature.

      Milk and Honey Fruit Dip
8 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
1 jar (7 ounce) Marshmallow Cream
½ cup Milk and Honey Stout
      squeeze of fresh lemon

Directions: Put Marshmallow Cream into bowl and microwave for 20 seconds. Add room temperature cream cheese and Milk and Honey Stout. Mix well. Serve with fresh fruit.

We also recommend adding our Chosen One Coconut Ale to your Queso. We hope you have a great time watching the game and are able to make a couple of these recipes. Next year, there will be new beers to cook with. We also hope there will be Cowboys making some touchdowns!

Sasquatch is Turning One and Cans

      01/16/2015

We hope everyone is having a great start to the year! We are very busy brewing new beers, getting ready to can, and hosting our Brewery Tours and Trivia Nights. A new beer that we just put on tap is the Coffee Pecan Porter. We took one of our favorites and added cold brewed coffee. You can smell the coffee aroma when it is coming out of the tap! Is it OK to drink beer at 8 AM if it has coffee in it? We are also getting ready for the birthday party at the end of the month. In February we are going to have a special Valentine’s Day Brewery Tour that will feature Girl Scout Cookies. This Saturday you can come to Sherman for our tour from 12-4. We will definitely be sitting outside in the sunshine!

We can’t wait to have our beer in cans. The process of designing labels was totally different (more difficult) than designing them for bottles. We love the finished product and can’t wait for the cans to get here so we can start canning. The beers that will be in cans are Sasquatch, Chosen One, Roo’s Red, and 903 Blonde. The beer will be in “360” cans. This means the entire top will come off and leave a smooth lip so you can safely drink straight out of the can. This allows the drinker (that’s you) to enjoy the aroma of the beer, just like drinking out of a pint glass. Cans shield the beer from light and extend the freshness of the beer. Our cans are coated with aluminum to prevent a metallic taste. And, most important, portability! What better place to enjoy a Chosen One than at the lake?

Sasquatch’s One Year Birthday is at the end of this month and so is Jeremy’s. We will celebrate them both on Saturday, January 31. We will have cake, party games, and new beers! Our Roo’s Red will be back on tap and Adam is making a Mocha Latte Sasquatch and a Raspberry Vanilla Coffee Sasquatch. The Mocha Latte Sasquatch will be made with cocoa nibs soaked in vodka. This will produce a pronounced fudgy flavor. In the Raspberry Vanilla Coffee he used fresh raspberries and whole vanilla beans. Adam will also present deconstructed versions of these. There will be a Raspberry Sasquatch, a Vanilla Sasquatch and a Coffee Sasquatch. And, of course, the original Sasquatch will be on tap. These will be available by the pint, or try them all in a flight. Check out the details on Facebook.

This Saturday we are ready for some sunshine and will be open from 12-4. It is going to be a beautiful day and we would love to visit with you. We welcome your furry friends and children. Bring and snack and be ready to relax! Roos Red will be back and the Coffee Porter is still on tap.

      In the Year 2014

      12/30/2014

What a year! We have come so far this year and had a ton of fun doing it. Everything that has happened was only possible through the great support we have had from our community and our customers. The new employees are doing a great job and love being at the brewery (so they say). We started bottling this summer and our beer is available all over North Texas to enjoy at home! New beers were created and you guys drank a lot of it! We still have our Trivia Nights every Thursday and Brewery Tours every Saturday. Thankfully, none of this is going to change next year except there will be more beer!

Our community of Sherman, Texas is a great place to live! Our downtown area is really growing and has some great new businesses. New restaurants are coming and we are so happy that these changes are happening so close to us. The city gave us a grant that enabled us to buy new tanks that will increase our production. It is really amazing to have so much support from our customers too. So many of you are happy to volunteer when we need it and of course you are buying plenty of beer. We love getting to know you guys that are regulars. Regulars become official when we know your work schedule, your kids names, the reasons you hate your boss, or your deepest darkest secrets that not even your spouse knows. During Saturday Brewery Tours we will get folks in from the metroplex that are looking to relax and get out of the city. We love hearing what other breweries and festivals you’ve been to.

Once we started bottling this past August things really got interesting. Due to a broken labeler, our first month of bottles were all labeled by hand. There is nothing like hand labeling thousands of beer bottles during a Texas summer! Coconut Ale never tasted better. There’s also no better way to get to know your coworkers than spending twelve hours a day filling beer bottles. What freaks! Truly, we have a great team. The boys all have beards and the girls don’t. There isn’t much else we could ask for.

In January last year, Jeremy made the Sasquatch Chocolate Milk Stout. He intended it to be a seasonal, but everyone loved it so much it is brewed all year. We will be celebrating Sasquatch’s 1st Birthday next month. We will announce plans for that party soon! The other new beer this year was The Land of Milk and Honey Stout. This is an easy drinking beer made with local honey that fits a wide range of tastes. It is a light stout, but certainly isn’t a light beer.

The best part of our week is Thursday Trivia Night and the Saturday Brewery Tours. This is a great time to relax and drink beer and hang out with our customers. This week trivia will be on Tuesday night because of the holiday. As always, the winning team for the night gets to share a case of beer. The tour this Saturday will be the first one of the year. We’d love you to start your new year with us!

      Christmas Time Beer

      12/09/2014

It is just a few weeks away from Christmas and we are really celebrating here at the brewery! We’ve had businesses out for their Christmas Parties, we were in the Sherman Christmas Parade, and Thursday is our Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. Saturday we will be open for our usual Brewery Tour from 12-4. What a great way to spend the afternoon after shopping! If you are stumped on what you can get someone, check out our Christmas Gift Box.

We can fill the gift box with any of our merchandise in any size. We can leave a little room if you want to add a couple of bottles of beer from the grocery store. A couple of tees, a few glasses, and Sasquatch soap would make a great gift! Just check out our website for things you might like, or come by for a few suggestions.

Last year we had an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and it was so much fun! This year, we are hosting it on Trivia Night. So, trivia will be Christmas themed, we will have Christmas movies showing in the brew room, and will provide h’orderves for snacking. Of course there will be plenty of 903 beer on tap! We’ve got our usuals and also a Wine Barrel Aged Pecan Porter that is amazing. There will be prizes for trivia and for the ugliest sweater. Last year it was so hard to decide the winner!

If you can’t make it Thursday, come relax on Saturday and take the tour. We are open from 12-4 and will have a gift wrapping station set up. You can bring a few gifts and get the wrapping taken care of in the brewery. This year you don’t have to sneak the gifts in the door when you go home!

You can always find our beer around town if you can’t make it into the brewery. A complete list of stores and restaurants that carry 903 is on the website along with all of our merchandise that is available. Let us know if something you are ordering is a gift, and we will be sure it looks great under your tree!

      Welcome Party, Cans, and Tanks

      11/21/2014

It is always a fun week at the brewery when something new gets bottled. The Land of Milk and Honey Stout is our newest beer and is quickly becoming a local favorite. We will also be introducing a new beer this weekend at our usual brewery tour. This Saturday is special because we will be having a Welcome Party for our new brewer, Adam. While you are here you can ask Natalie about our beers that will be in cans at the first of the year. She has been working hard on getting the labels juuuuust right. And, the cuddliest news is that we have new hoodies and knitted caps. They will go great with that new Sasquatch tee you got last week. You can get this new gear online or at Trivia on Thursday night.

Want to know more about the beer?

The Land of Milk and Honey has quickly become one of the favorites for regulars on Trivia Night and the Brewery Tour on Saturday. Stout drinkers love it, and fans of our 903 Blonde or Coconut Ale are deviating from their usual. It is made with local honey from Crouse Honey and has an ABV of 9%. We just finished the first run of bottling and stores have only had it a couple of days. We’ve got it on tap!

Adam’s Welcome Party beer will be the Wildcat. It is a single hop Citra pale ale. The ABV will be about 5.5% and the IBU is 3.7. He says you will be able to taste the hops on this one, but not so much bitter taste. This will be served for the first time on November 22 at the party. There will also be chili made with Sasquatch Stout. We are open from 12-4.

We’ve also got our new tanks in! This will more than double our capacity. We got in two 15 bbl tanks and a 30 bbl tank. If you are here on Saturday you can check them out during the tour.

The hoodies, beanies, and Sasquatch shirts are all for sale here at the brewery, but you can also order them online from 903Brewers.com.

If you aren’t able to come see us at the brewery this week, look for us at your local bar, restaurant or grocery store. We have a complete list of retailers on the website.

      Cheers!
